Security

Context helps engineering teams investigate incidents inside Slack. We design the product so teams can adopt it without adding another dashboard or widening their attack surface unnecessarily.
Architecture
Context runs as a Slack application and integrates with GitHub and your monitoring tools. Incident analysis happens in the channels you configure. We request the minimum OAuth scopes needed to read alerts, correlate changes, and post investigation results in-thread.
Data handling
- In transit: connections to Context services use TLS (HTTPS).
- At rest: stored data is encrypted using industry-standard mechanisms provided by our cloud infrastructure.
- Access control: production access is limited to personnel who need it to operate the service, with authentication and logging in place.
- Retention: configurable by plan; see Privacy Policy for details.
What we access
Depending on your configuration, Context may process:
- Slack messages and metadata in channels you connect;
- GitHub repository events, commits, and deployment-related metadata;
- Alert payloads from tools such as PagerDuty, Datadog, or Sentry when posted to Slack.
We do not require access to your entire Slack workspace or every repository by default. You choose which channels and repos to connect.
AI processing
Context uses AI models to summarize and correlate incident signals. Prompt data is processed to deliver responses in your Slack threads. We do not use customer incident content to train public models without a separate written agreement.
Enterprise controls
Enterprise plans include additional controls such as SSO, audit logs, and custom data processing terms. Contact us for a security questionnaire or DPA review.
Incident response
We maintain procedures to detect, respond to, and notify customers of security incidents affecting Context services, in line with our agreements and applicable law.
Responsible disclosure
If you believe you have found a security vulnerability, please report it to hello@context.tertech.io. We ask that you give us reasonable time to investigate before public disclosure.
